From The Wintered Womb
Underneath the thrice ploughed, fertile, fallow field
Impregnated within a wintered, woven, womb
Of richly composted humus
I lay seeking sustenance, nourishment from
The oxygen filled wintered mist that
Drizzles, seeping, replenishing the amniotic fluids
That trickles through the membranous umbilical cord
Fertilizing, greening,
Ensuring a bountiful spring harvest.

I feel as if I am in the same place as well. I want to reach for the sun and get out of it.

I agree with Traveller. Spring is the promise of new beginnings, and while we hold on to the old and appreaciate the gifts we received, we look forward to the new greening.

Lori got it right-I’m in that place, too. Wanting just one warm day of the soul to jump up, but feeling the weight of the cold.

Who knows what important work takes place in the dead of winter? We indeed await the greening and the miracle of what blossoms forth…

Well drawn image and sense of place in time as well as surroundings, I too seek nourishment, mine always take me back to the beds of deep warm green algea, a memory from being in a coma when I was a child.

I should really remove the fabulous image because it is not mine and I cannot recollect the artist. Van Gogh I think from memory???? No wonder it is good

It’s a sentiment felt by many and the painting is wonderful ( you had to choose it even though you didn’t paint it.)
